Seen: Triage, The Living Room, Wavelength (for those without the time) – Michael Snow at 4th Annual Brakhage Symposium (3/15); The Wire, episode 60; The Wire, episodes 01 – 08. Will see soon last week’s LOST.

Read(ing): Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows; On Seeing – F. Gonzalez-Crussi.

Raving About: Having a little bit of a break, the nice weather here in my neck of the woods.

Ranting About: My bracket. I picked San Diego, but Davidson and West Virginia devastated my final four. At least it is exciting basketball, but my bracket has big red X marks throughout. Also troubling – the amount of grading I’ll receive and must confront while writing my own midterms.

Finished: Five-page summary of agent causation and libertarian free will for my intro students.

Working On: midterm for Heidegger Seminar (will top out at 25 pages); 750-word book review for readings and research course; getting a passport for upcoming summer of NAFTA country travel; decreasing the huge piles on my desk; grading, grading, and more grading.

Saying hello to the new visitors to this blog! Hello!

More to come – as promised, some discussion of Michael’s return will be posted soon (or eventually).

Excuse the radio silence of late – here’s a quick list of things.

Seen: Diving Bell and the Butterfly - Julian Schnabel; Be Kind, Rewind – Michel Gondry.

Read: The Rest is Noise: Listening to the Twentieth Century – Alex Ross; Incompleteness – Rebecca Goldstein.

Raving About: Last week’s episodes of The Wire and LOST (Desmond = guaranteed good episode); the amount of raw food I’ve been eating.

Ranting About: how poor my teaching has been of late.

Finished: 750-word description of proposed thesis topic. Still deciding whether or not to post it here.

Working On: 250-word abstract of proposed thesis topic; annotating the over-ambitious bibliography compiled last week for the thesis, reading and re-reading sections of Being and Time so I can start work on the midterm next week.
